Was this spoken only of Ishmael or all his descendants too ?

The prophecy seems to pertain specifically to Ishmael, and certainly came true. It was especially kicked into high gear by the boot he recieved from his father, Abraham. Kicked out of his home and disheirited in his teens, Ishmael had to quickly learn how to both survive and care for his mother. This meant fighting!

As for his descendents, the apple doesn't seem to fall far from the tree!

The assumption is about his descendants in addition to him.
