The Amish town in Pennsylvania where six girls were killed in a school shooting last year, was awarded 11.3 million dollars. That same Amish community then turned around and gave the shooters wife millions of dollars to help her because she no longer had a husband to help pay the bills. Could you do something like this? I personally, hope that I would be able to do the same thing.

I want you all to know that I think that it is an awesome act on their part. Truly God is reflected here.

There is no doubt that the Amish are special people. Those who make fun of them do so in ignorance. Their faith and obedience are a remarkable example.

I can't resist from answering this one, yes it's true, this forgiving thing is a wonderful act! it's a show that puts a lot of favor and honor on the Amish.
I have some questions; why don't they drive cars and will shun their people if they do, but drive in them daily ? how is it that they can have man made laws and call them order or standards? how is it that they refrain from modernism and have a law that they can't use electricity, then have shops set up with air tools that are just as modern and handier then electric? how is it that they can forgive only certain people????? and there are lots and lots more of things going on among the Amish that are so confusing, I mean I know they all truelly want Jesus and heaven but I have to wonder how they expect to be saved in such a confusing way and only in hopes as they strongly refuse to have assurance of salvation!!

I think I could because I believe strongly in forgiveness, and always have. But I would never have thought to do that. That was really cool of them! What a good idea. They rule.

The Amish not only talk, the talk...they walk the walk. This is what a Christian should do. I hope I would be able to do something like that too...The mine is willing, but the body is weak.

I honestly don't know, but I'm sure I'd have a very hard time with it, even if I could eventually arrive at such a degree of forgiveness. I, too, wish I could be more like them.

Personally, I hope that you never have to make that choice.
While I applaud their generosity... I would never find myself in that situation... because I would not pursue a financial settlement in return for the life of a loved one.

That's not much of a question but more a statement. But I agree. Very noble of them.

Your point? The man was mentally ill. Why persecute his family because of his mistakes? Have a heart.

She was a victim too, but if she got millions then that was more than her share.

Well, that's how truly religious people are. They prove a point and then do the right thing.
