hi. i have five cars parked on the parking lot of my house. they are olivian green 2004 bmw, dark green 2000 honda accord, silver 2000 honda odyssey, silver 1999 honda accord, dark green 2000 toyota rav4 and black 2007 lexus. these cars are pretty much parked the same amount of time as the other cars infront of my house. none of these cars are attacked by ants excepts for the 2007 black lexus. i dont see a single ant on any other cars except for this one. i recently bought this car brand new and wondering whats actually attracting these ants to the car. i tried washing the car everyday but still doesnt work. right after i finish washing i see ants on the roof and rear window. i believe if this situation continues, then i will start having ants inside the car and i have already seen one or two. i already called pesticide company to spray my lawn to kill the ants. my question is why are the ants only attacking the black lexus. what can i do to save my car from these ants? thank you......

Clean your car all the way out and have the carpets cleaned.

First I doubt if the color has anything to do with it because the olive green and dark green cars would also attract them since the color is close. Also you would hear similar stories from other owners of black cars. I have had black cars and didn't have that problem so I think you can rule out the color. It could be something as stupid as having something hidden within the headlner from the factory. Believe me it wouldn't be the first time. Factory workers have a habit of doing stupid things during the assembly process just as a prank (even sticking a well chewed piece of gum to the inner roof prior to installation of the headliner). I say headliner because it seems like they are after something at the top of the car. Ants will come from miles if they sense certain substances. Talk to the manager of the service department at your dealership and maybe they will be willing to pull the headliner and have a look. Also it could just be because the Lexus is a sweet ride!. .... sorry, my bad. PS, why do you have so many cars anyway? Who are you ....... Jay Leno?

Put some or a lot of sugar in the other cars. The ants will no longer be interested in the Lexus. The ants have good taste. the Lexus is a more attractive car than the others.

You really need to park another car in the same spot, and see what happens. Basic troubleshooting... Maybe you are parked on a colony. I'll say this though, the ants have great taste, I'd crawl all over one too.

i can think of 5 ways..

1: Trade In
2: Look for Ant Queen
3: Possibly You left a bag of Fast food or somthing around..
4: Look for a large trail of ants
5: If there were only about 3 ants. that shouldnt be a problem unless more showed up.

Well Good luck I hope this helps

if the interior is clean then did you place anything that would attract them...? or pherhaps of the colour of your car...black perfect for ant's sun-tan? i suggest you haf a car wash frequently after a spin or something as it would be able to keep them off for about... till it dries up? put some sweets on the floor to attract them to it instead?

The ants have been specifically trained by your local Mercedes dealership to target any Lexus?

Are you parking under a tree ? Try changing parking spaces with one of your other cars ? Maybe its not the car. Maybe its not the parking space at your house ? Maybe its at work ?
