In light of my last two questions, I'm apparently Agnostic (I hate that concept). Now. I've been informed, much to my disbelief, that there are people who say there is absolutely no possibility of any god. Be they ones we've heard of or not. Now, I know you can't prove a negative, that was basically the basis of my last questions. But tell me, if you are certain there is no god: why? How do you know that? I don't believe in the existance of ANY gods that I've heard of: Christ is bull, Allah is bull. Zeus is bull. None of the gods I've ever heard of had made sense, so I say none of the current gods exist. I thought that made me atheist, but apparently not. Now tell me, what is your basis for believing there is NO god. You have to have some kind of reason for thinking that. Man I can't word things tonight...read my last two questions to understand this one better. I'm asking this for no other reason, than...I don't like being considered agnistic. Agnostics just seem like atheists.

Javagirl, that is how I feel. And I'm considered agnostic now. Silly, huh?

Agnostics are confused

Atheists do not say "there is absolutely no possibility" that God exists. True atheists consider all possibilities possible. We do not believe in the existence of God because atheists make a voluntary and educated choice on believing God does not exist. We do not reject the notion of God by ignorance or anti-religionism. We need EVIDENCE. It doesn't have to be scientific evidence, but it definitely has to be evidence beyond the scope of one book, which is the Bible, which is also all the evidence the Christian community can provide at the present time.

If you believe that there is no God then you are only HALF alive. The evidence that God exist is evident in the CREATION itself. I don't know if you have ever read the Bible or not but God has spoken through the pen of men in a very sobering and declarative way. I as many have a personal relationship with God not to be confused with merely "being" a Christian. When you encounter that SPIRIT behind the words in the Scriptures it is impossible for you to not believe. There may be times when I don't feel His presence as much as other times but when I read in the scriptures that His existence does not hinge on my belief or disbelief it puts me back on point.

I can't be certain there is no god, anymore than I can be certain that at this moment my consciousness was put here with all these memories and now I think I am me but it's an illusion. Or that we are an experiment by aliens. Or that a cat in a bubble is flying in space and controlling my thoughts... They are things we cannot verify but an idiot would have to take them all seriously. If we took one thing seriously that there is no evidence for, then we would have to also take serious the infinite possibilities that "could" be.

I agree with Javagirl. Nobody knows anything. Of course theres a possibility of a God, but athiests don't believe it. I believe there is no such thing as an agnostic. They just don't want to label themselves as athiests. Athiests and agnostic is the same thing. Despite what these self proclaimed "agnostics" say.

I can't prove God is a "supreme being". Evidence seems to point to a poor designer who created a largely hostile universe with obviously flawed life-forms that seem to have haphazardly evolved in response to environmental pressures rather than having been "intelligently designed". So if God isn't a supreme being, then just what is he? Potentially a very powerful (but mentally challenged) entity, but certainly not a deity worth worshiping.

Now, if there were a REAL God and not the clown who supposedly created our messed-up universe, would he allow a second-rate wannabe deity to mess up his void? I doubt it.

Agnostic is just a word that some cowardly atheists in the past decided to apply to themselves to avoid the stigma of calling themselves atheists. Atheists merely "lack belief" in gods, which is the same as not knowing whether there is or is not a God effectively (because if we "knew" there was a God, belief would be irrelevant). I hate the nuance here, because there really is no tangible difference, in practice, and it is just annoying to pretend that there is.

There is insufficient empirical evidence to support the hypothesis of a god or gods. Give me evidence and I will consider it, but I really do not believe it is within the realm of possibility that the evidence exists. Therefore, no god.

The interesting thiing is that by Christians insisting the universe of the Bible is not limited to a a1000 mile radius of Alexandia but rather that the universe of the Bible is in fact the actual universe they inadvertantly help to disprove the existance of God.
The reason is that a sentient being who has the technical capability of creating 70,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars in a universe that has a diameter of 93,000,000,000 light years does not use a pen and parchment to write a book.-
It simply doesn't happen

I don't know if I speak for all atheists, but personally I BELIEVE that there is no god. Of course, it is remotely possible that god(s) exist, but since there is absolutely no proof, I don't think it's very likely. Can you show me evidence that the Easter Bunny doesn't exist?

Very good question. Theres no proof of a god but theres also no proof there isn't. Same with any other thing like the easter bunny or tooth fairy. If you consider yourself to be atheist, that's what you are homie.
