The other night, my kitty was curled up asleep at the foot of my bed and purring so loudly it woke me up! It was so funny...would love to know what she was dreaming about. Has anyone else heard of a cat doing this? Is it common?

Some cats can purr for any reason, others need constant petting to keep the purr going. And I also had a cat that purred so loud, that you could hear it across a large room.

Cats purr when thier content, as you probably know, and no matter kitty's actions at the moment, he will purr if he's happy.

I have three cats they purr all the time. they are always on my lap or in bed with me. the middle cat purrs the loudest. when ever they purr that just means that they are happy the more they purr the more they love you..

yes, most of our cats did that.
But they seemed to purr less and less the older they got.
Either the purr motor wears out, or cats get feline depression in their old age.

yep. my cat also purrs when he eats, growls and eats at the same time and growls while snuggling on my lap ( the growls are when he sees his sister...)

yes mine does quite often. it shows he really feels safe and loves his home.then again all my animals love there home i just cant find a woman who likes them as much as i do.
