Well I would charge $3500.00 to build a fence 100 feet long so If theres 1951 miles at the border and 5280 feet in a mile that would be 10309084 feet at $35. a foot that would be about 360 million for a fence made out of wood and 8 feet tall.
Yeah if i get paid to build it it would be worth it. Since it is at the border i'll have mexicans in mexico at the border help me and make a hugh profit.

Estimate vary widely and are just that, estimates. What ever they are saying it will cost now will only be a fraction of the actual cost. However, it will be worth it. Illegal immigration cost this country billions in medical, education, law enforcement and many other costs. Any wall will be a fraction of the cost.
The real issues comes down to our willingness to really put an effort into stopping illegal immigration. We need to punish companies that hire them, refuse them education and all but the most basic health care. We need to stop letting the USA be their free utopia.
Legal immigration is a great thing. I have adopted children that I went through all the hoops to get to the USA. They may be hispanic by skin color, but they are American through and through.

Yes the wall is worth whatever the final cost will be. Anytthing to stop lawbreakers is a good thing.
As an American Citizen, I wish to protect what's mine and stop the infiltration of people who come just for the cash.
If Mexicans wished to become Americans, then that's a different story. But to choose to live in my country and expect me to bow to their demands is nowhere near FAIR.
M of U : Mexico is not part of the USA. BOTH East and West Berlin speaks GERMAN. Mexico speaks Spanish and America speaks--->press 1 and find out.

Not worth the cost, But let them build it, Lets see they want to build a 700 mile wall, Humm. The border is 2000 miles long, I think their math is bad.
Mexico could use it as a tourist attraction "The Worst Wonder of the World"

Yes I think it is worth it. Crime and crossings dropped dramatically in San Diego when the fence went up there. It was night and day. The costs once they are inside are much higher, partcularly on our already failing schools and services.

The wall as a physical barrier will never be built. Rather it will exists in the form of surveillance and access interventions combined with strict enforcement of employment and immigrations laws. Game over.

YES! I was waiting for someone to ask a question about this! Building this wall is going to cost anywhere from millions to billions of dollars. Is it worth it? Of course NOT! One reason being the fact that we still have illegal immigrants over here, therefore they can still show their other illegal friends the "routes". Another thing, let's be serious here, who is actually going to guard the wall? What makes you think that the people that will be guarding this wall will be moral? I'm sure anyone of those guarders would let an illegal immigrant pass, it would just cost a great sum of money. And although I see nothing wrong with people of different races, I do have a problem with people who come over here illegally. We basically have to pay for them with the high tax and other things like that, which is money that we could be using for something else. Another reason why this wall is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard is because of the fact that we have plentiful amounts of other problems that could be taken care of with that money that we will be spending on that wall. Let's focus on the environmental problems that are occurring ( whole in the ozone layer, melting glaciers, mass pollution etc. ). One last thing to think about: some Mexicans and Hispanics aren't the only illegal immigrants here, we have illegal Canadians, Europeans etc. and you don't see us building a wall blocking Europe and Canada, which makes me ask: Why are we targeting only one particular race?

In the border of El Paso, Texas the Americans started building the wall on Mexican territory, can you believe it? So the Mexican military went and tore it down and TOLD American government that if they so much want a wall dividing these two nations, then they should build it on American territory.
I personally don't think it is a great idea. American economy is not going well and we're about to change presidents soon. I don't want a Berlin wall because I believe it will greatly affect our government generations from now just as did the Berlin.
Read "The Word Is Flat" by Thomas Friedman. It says that the fall of the Berlin allowed people from other side of the wall to join the economic mainstream. If we let Mexico be on the other side of the wall, those problems will befall in our nation generations from now (assuming each generations starts every 10 years).
