Yes only if the acid has leaked out and the battery is not holding 12volts enough to make and keep the truck electrical supplied> Change out the battery first as it is damaged>

if all the water is leaked out of it and it strictly running on alternator power its possible it can affect the ignition system but i doubt that it would make it back fire like that ,i haven't seen it happen to one yet,most likely the timing on it will cause that to happen,good luck with it.

No. The battery merely starts the car. When it doesn't...replace it.
