My physics teacher believes in evolution, the big bang theory, the 4.5 billion year old Earth, the 13 billion year old universe, the whole bit. He is also a preacher at a Baptist church near my house. I always hear that the evolution-creation debate is an atheist-christian debate. My teacher blows that notion out of the water. He is a highly respected member of the community and has a PhD in theoretical physics. What evolutionists have a problem with, including my teacher, is not religion. It's this attempt to destroy the public school system with creationism that evolutionists like my teacher hate so much. My teacher said that belief in God should not influence the public school system. He told me that religion should stay seperate from the school system and that people need to respect others beliefs. I think if all people were like my teacher, this world would be a much better place.

Thank goodness there are still some rational, well educated people working in the education system. It sounds your teacher is a thoughtful, well educated man who has considered what education is actually about - broadening the mind. I do agree with him, evolution is not a religion; it is a scientific explanation.

If more preachers were as educated as your teacher, there would be a lot less rubbish on here at least.

Show me a place without God? Hell?

We have two beliefs system: Revelation and Science. God reveal himself to us through his prophets. Scientific theories explain scientific facts using the scientific method.

Revealed know does not depend on the observations of man. God through his prophets tell us. You can find this in the bible. The bible is not a science or history book, but a tools for believers.

Science ("from to know') has establish a method for creating theories that explain facts. If the facts change, the theory may change as well. All science comes from man's observation.

To explain a reveal knowledge say God by science would require man to observe God. God existed before he created everything that man can observe. If God can be explain by man, man must observe the unobservable, this is where God was before he created everything we can observed.

To apply the scientific method to revelation will not work either. Let take God again. Does would have a God theories that shows God exists? Unfortunately, God's existence is assumed in the bible. God did not give us a proof.

Answer: The bible is limited to what God revealed, not what man thinks he can derived.

Your teacher has a logical mind. This makes him both a better scientists and Preacher. You are lucky to know such a man. You should pick his brain for how he views things more.

I agree with you whole heartedly. I believe that everyone is entitled to their religion, or lack of religion, in my case, but that debate shouldn't be allowed in schools.

I am a Baptist minister and I would love to get this preachers theory on evolution and Christian belief and how they fit together. Because I don't really understand how they can fit. But I am open minded, but I refuse to believe anything if it is against the WORD OF GOD!
