I am not afraid of it. The Earth has had natural global warming in the distant past , millions of years ago, and life thrived in those natural warm periods. This one, even though artificially caused, will be no different. It is not going to kill me or even inconvenience me. And it will not kill you or anyone else either. The worst effect would be a sea level rise, which would flood low lying coastal areas like Holland or Venice. But it will take 100 years or more for the sea to come up, little by little, less than 1 inch a year, so people will have plenty of time to move. That will be expensive of course, giving up homes and whole cities on the coast. But there is no call for panic. The idea that swarms of extremely violent storms will suddenly wipe us out or that it will get so hot that it will bake people to death is just totally wrong. That will not happen. No scientist anywhere in the world has said that will happen. Only idiots on Yahoo! answers who don't know science are saying that.

I am more afraid of the government keeping secrets than I am of global warming, but you can always look for facts to ease your mind. Where do you live? Would it flood there if water rose? Do you really have anything to fear? If the world changes, humans adapt. Perhaps we can all help each other to survive, if it happens like they say...check out my question on global warming, perhaps some of the links there will help you.

Think of it this way, if it's happening, we can't do much about it.
The time scales discussed in many arguments are unrealistic, IE: things on such a scale take a long time.
If we are heading for trouble, it won't happen in our lifetimes.
On the other hand, it may not be as bad as they say, or even not happening.
Hence, don't be afraid, I would be more worried about how to cross the street.

i am but fear can lead to anger, which can cause you to think of people as hostile, making you an earth fanatic
try to think of it this way: do your best to save the earth people will know exactly when something bad happens
theres so much technology that even if the government didnt say it, it would still be spread, so there is time to make a difference and help the earth

Yes, I am afraid of it too. The only good that could come out from it might be that only very limit land will be high enough above the sea level, all races, from all continentals, of all religions will have to fight, massacre among themselves until only a limit number of human race is left, then we can learn to live in peace, so at the end, WORLD PEACE. The end justifies itself?

The Earth has had hot periods and cold periods. The current warming is nothing new or unusual.

It is the arrogance of youth to think that the world is ending just when you arrived here. Just picture Al Gore in his mansions writing the hysterical crap that has you in a tither.

I'm afraid that it, or more precisely, the irrational fear of it, will be used by liberal politicians to put the government (with them in charge of course) in complete control of every aspect of our lives and thus strip us of all our personal liberties.
