remove the nut and bolt from the right end. remove the nut holding it to the drag link. hit the drag link next to where teh damper comes into it to seperate it. just like a tie rod end or ball joint. it has the same kind of taper seat. if hitting the drag link doesn't pop it, get a small pitman arm puller and try that. you can take my word for it, heating the drag link will help nothing.

A stroker 4.6 or 4.7 will bolt directly in. That will give about 300HP. Plenty for a Wrangler. If you want serious power and have the money to burn, look to Nelson Racing Engines. You can get a Mopar 572ci engine that puts out 750 HP and runs on regular unleaded. All for only $33000. Seriously, most people opt to put in the venerable Chevy 350. Tons of aftermarket support for this engine. You can find a builder for cheap in your local junkyard. These engines can be tuned to put up very respectable HP numbers. They are a small engine and you can shoehorn one into the Wrangler engine compartment. What it all boils down to is how much money and time do you want to spend. I have seen 454s in old CJs.

You may need to use a pickle fork,I tried hitting mine and it didn't move at all but with the fork and a couple good hits it came off.I believe you can rent one from Auto Zone.

It should be mounted the same as a shock absorber, actually that's what it is. A nut on each end and take it off
