Peter denied Christ three times to prove the Diety of Jesus, since Jesus was able to KNOW the future (Jesus had correctly predicted it would happen).

Peter thought he had to lie, to keep from sharing Jesus' horrible fate; because Peter was not yet emboldened by the Holy Spirit in the upper room baptism with tounges of fire.

Peter and he asked Peter three times; " Do you love me?" and these three times Peter said, " Yes." It was because Peter denied Jesus as being the Son of God and his friend. This was Jesus's way of forgiving him and sending it to God. Jesus already know Peter would betray him for silver and gold.

If you're talking about in Christianity than Jesus was.
He was denied by Peter because Peter was afraid to acknowledge that he was a friend of Jesus's because he was also afraid of being taken prisoner.

I understand that according to tradition, Jesus Christ was. But so was I, in some affairs, and it didn't make me anything special. So its purpose varies with the occasion - but reporting it can give it significance in some chosen context. Most legends work that way.

Jesus...I think to show Peter no matter how much he thought he loved Christ, he still had to face his weakness. I believe Peter thought he would never, ever deny Christ, but when it came down to it.....you know the rest.

Jesus. He knew what was going to happen, and also to show Peter that it is OK, because later Peter said three times " I love you" to Jesus. We mess up, but we learn and grow spiritually. Jesus prepared him for the job he had ahead of Him.

Peter denied knowing Jesus, three times.

Jesus was denied in the Bible.

I don't have time to look it up, but I'm sure the occurrence happened to fulfill prophecy.
