A family member was incarcerated and we don't know where he was taken to. We tried googling 'inmate information (the state where I live)'. Is there any free service to find him or what do we do? thx.

Depends on what state you live in. Many states have inmate records on line as public record. With out knowing what state you are in, Try your local Sheriff's office web-site for inmate information.

Other then that, try your states Department Of Corrections web-site to search for inmate information.

There are no accurate web-sites with inmate info on the web. None are connected to any official arrest records site. Any that claim to be, for free or a fee, other than official government sites, are scams and just trying to suck money out of you.

Best that I can tell you with what you have provided.

Go to the website for your State Department of Corrections... or Board of Corrections... whatever it's called where you are.

You need to find something called an inmate locater... which is what it's usually called.. If you call them with the person's Name and Date of Birth, they should be able to tell you what facility he's in.

hi chris, i believe this is to be all of public record, so never pay for it. try putting "inmate search (your state) Penitentiaries. or if you can get to the home page of the penal systems in your state, there should be a search for inmate that way too. good luck! i hope this helped! :)
