For each meal or snack have carbohydrates, protein and essential fatty acids.
Carbohydrates are whole grain products, vegetables and fruits.
Protein is in eggs, meats, soy products, and beans.
Essential fatty acids come from fish, nuts, and olives.
By combining the three elements you keep your boodsugar levels low at all times which is very healthy.
Get a copy of Dr. Perricone’s 7 Secrets to Beauty, Health, and Longevity about $12-15. Following some rather simple guidelines you will be eating your way to a healthy old age, rather than a sick shorter one.
The secret is keeping steady blood sugar levels. You must have heard US has an epidemic of type 2 diabetes - due to too much sugar and simple carbos from the junk food.
Potatoes, bananas, white bread, and all other mostly colorless items are a thing to avoid. A baked potato rises the bloodsugar as much as a Snickers bar.
Good luck - I'm glad to see young people starting out healthy diet habits! It will pay off so stick to it!

Good job! See you if can stick with anything that can grow, walk, swim, or fly. That would be fruits and veggies, meat, fish, poultry, nuts, seeds, and grains. Don't stray too far from its natural state. Say, eat fresh strawberries instead of strawberry jam. Keep things low fat (not full fat or fat free). Your grocery store would have everything. To keep your metabolism hyped, eating 5-6 meals a day with a balance of protein and carbs is ideal. Something like this- (1) 3/4 cup dry oats, 5 egg whites, apple (2) 1/2 cup cottage cheese with 1 cup strawberries (3) 5 oz tuna on 2 slices whole wheat bread with spinach salad (4) 1 cup soymilk, 1 tbsp peanut butter, 1 apple in a shake (5) 5 oz mahi mahi with 1 cup green beens. The possibilities are endless. Check out www.allrecipes.com for recipes, www.sparkpeople.com to input your food and calculate your calories for free, www.http://www.greggavedon.com/Diet%20Basics.htm to see how a male model keeps it fit and healthy. Good luck.

Just try to eat a balanced diet of whole grains (oatmeal, dark bread only), fruits and veggies along with fish and poultry (not breaded or deep fried but baked or broiled only), moderate amounts of red meats and other sources of proteins. Stay away from sweets, fried foods, fast foods, junk food and drink plenty of purified water. Stay away from consuming water from any public water supply as it is all loaded with chlorine to kill bacteria and the chlorine (flouride) is a form of bleach. Try to drink pure water such as reverse osmosis water. Most bottled water is simply water from a public water supply that has been ran through a charcoal filter to remove the chlorine which improves the taste but does almost nothing as far as removing harmful bacteria. Reverse osmosis is the only method of removing even the most tiny micro organisms that are commonly found in all water. It is the purest water on the face of the earth. Read the label on bottled water and look for the words processed by reverse osmosis. Don't be fooled by wording such as pure drinking water or spring water as it is totally misleading and definitely not the healthiest water. DaSani brand bottled water is one brand of reverse osmosis water available in stores. The best advice is to use common sense in your daily eating and drinking habits, after all it really is more common sense than rocket science.

Good for you; healthy foods are fresh fruits & vegetables, proteins like fish, chicken, turkey, and beef (some ppl like to limite the amount of beef because it's high fat), buffalo is good as well, a good non-meat substitute are beans but they're low in protein so you'll need to combine them w/ brown rice, or quinoa (grain which is high in protein).
I would say limit frozen & canned foods as much as possible because they're sometimes high in sodium.
There's a nutritionist named Gary Null who has a good book out that you may want to start with, it contains information about healthy foods etc. I know Barnes & noble carries his books and you can go to amazon.com I believe to find his books.
Also if you have any health food stores in your area check them out, but be careful because many of the packaged foods can be high in salt. To really eat healthy you'll want to cook most of your meals as often as possible, it's the best way of knowing what's in your food.

Oh, and that i consume yogurt each and on a daily basis...i admire yoplait yogurt & it is basically a hundred energy. this evening I made scrumptious black bean soup...my childrens had no theory how healthy it become & even asked for 2nds.

Search "Food Pyramid" on Google/Yahoo. Any of those links should be able to tell you what healthy foods are. I visited one back in February and it really helped.
