This is not unusual for a very old dog. You can certainly ask your vet, but I doubt there is anything you can do to fix it. I had an old dog who did the same thing. I bought a crib mattress pad, they are waterproof, but still soft, and had my dog sleep on it. Easy to wash and the urine didn't go through onto anything else.

This is probably due to his age. Check with your Vet and have him checked over thoroughly. If it is just age, you can purchase 'belly bands" for male dogs. This wraps around their middle and attaches over the back with velcro. You can put a feminine hygiene pad inside it and it keeps the dog from leaking urine on his bedding or the floors or carpets. You just be sure to take it off to let him out to relieve himself.

Keep an eye on her, bed rest is the best thing, sipping water so she doesnt get dehydrated, she should be ok for a couple of days without food or you can get something called dioralite from the chemist that contains nutrients that you loose through sickness (tastes foul though) If it gets worse get your gp to come out to see her. Theres been quite a nasty bug going around that she may have picked up. Hope she feels better soon x

You may not be able to ''fix'' it. 16 yrs old is rather old for a Red Heeler, and dogs tend to loose the ability to ''hold it'' in their senior years. Just lay a towel down if he's on the couch/floor, and clean his doggy bed often. It's just something you tend to deal with, when it comes to senior animals.

It may be a bladder infection or it could just be from old age. You should take him to the vet to make sure it isn't an infection though.
