YES i totally agree wid u. We muslims follow our religious beliefs but never try to boast abt our selfves. we always be in our limits never criticise or illl treat other religions. but wht i fail to understand is that why the whole world is against our religion.i see many people on YA visits this site to just ask stupid questions abt Islam. thy just want to criticise our religion. it looks cheap on their part. But anyhow Islam is a religion which doesnt need to boast. NO ONE can pull
its status down.NOR can manupilate the mind of a true muslim.
Islam was thr from many many years and will be thr till eternity.

I think two of main reasons why there is little or no respect towards your faith and others, is because of the numerous amount of people within Islam and Christianity that show no respect towards those of different beliefs or of no faith, and the manner in which both religions have expanded.
I agree, not all Muslims are terrorists, have met a great deal of them that are kind and peaceful, but there's a contradiction within Islam that I question...
How is it that you translate the very name of your religion to "peace", even the word Muslim itself implies "a person who performs acts of peace", yet Mohammad rampaged through Makkah with a group of men killing people who did not convert or were idol-worshippers (apparently, that was their only crime)...that's no different than the Christian part of the Crusades (as there were also Muslims who fought).
The Roman Catholic church had people killed for not converting, classifying them as "heathens", among other names. Sound familiar?
You seem like a well-intentioned person, but your statement is proving to be futile, since religion itself hasn't done and still isn't doing the world much good to begin with.
To sell us the idea of a peaceful religion, which roots are based on a quest to imperialize (by all means necessary) just as Christianity, remains contradictory, therefore deeming little, if any respect.
No offense to you personally. :-)

Seriously, have you even read about Shariah law in some parts of the Muslim world? There is huge intolerance on their part. I just support a government that offers freedom of speech, religion, and behavior, unlike most Muslims in Saudi Arabia and Iran.
How about this:
More citizens in Pakistan support the mass murderer Osama Bin Laden than their President.
Violent protests erupted against the publication of Danish cartoons against mohammad. Some signs read "death to those who insult allah" and others promised the "real holocaust."
Some European museums are self-censoring their exhibits out of fear of insulting Islam.
I'm not going to be politically correct against any form of religious tyranny. Most Muslims are friendly, reasonable, and good citizens, but a large percentage of Muslims in the Middle East want non-believers dead and our institutions crushed under Islamic law.

You've never seen a Muslim insult another religion?!! Please don't make me laugh. How about every time they say, "Death to the Infidel!"? That insults EVERY single belief. How about whenever Muslims say the Torah and Bible are corrupt? The quran is an insult! Do you know what religion Muslims really insult? islam! Every time a Muslim kills, islam is insulted. Every time Muslims riot, islam is insulted. Every time Muslims put out a death threat, islam is insulted. But Muslims just don't see that. If islam has a bad name...it deserves it!
EDIT: This is from Yahoo! alerts:
USA Today Sat, 15 Sep 2007 7:25 AM PDT
The putative leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq put a bounty on the head Swedish cartoonist and his editor who recently produced images deemed insulting to Islam, according to a speech carried by Islamist websites Saturday.
And you wonder why?
God Bless.

The very religion of Islam is an insult to God.
An Inferior and deceitful Allah says he is the God of Abraham.
The Isa of Islam is not The Holy Son of God.
Muslims claim that the God who created us allowed man to make him a liar.
You sir have been deceived by the greatest liar of all.
May the true God of Abraham deliver you from him.
Sir I tell you the truth it is not meant as an insult.

First of all, your premise that Muslims aren't insulting other religions is false. They are taking it a step past insulting and have been murdering people of other religions. Secondly I don't consider saying that Islam is a false religion an insult. They deny the deity of Jesus Christ and my scripture makes it clear that anyone doing such is incorrect. Therefore a religion that teaches the same thing is false.

Nothing new. Christians have insulted Islam, and in particular Prophet Muhammad, for at least one thousand years, whereas Muslims have always respected Christianity and Christians. The words of Thomas Carlyle are true to this day: "The lies, which well-meaning zeal has heaped round this man [Prophet Muhammad], are disgraceful to ourselves only."
EDIT
If Muslims have attached Christians in recent times, it's only because they are against American-British Neo-colonial policies. And that is why they don't attack other European nations, unless they are aiding American-British war mongering.
Most Westerners have an extremely ignorant view that Muslims call non-Muslims "infidels," and therefore they want to kill them. Nothing is further from the truth. It's true that non-Muslims are called "kafir," in the religious sense, because they deny the truth of Islam, but most "kufar" have lived among Muslims for 1400 years quite peacefully.

It goes both ways. I have seen Muslims hating on other religions too. I have also seen others respecting my religion as well. There are all kinds of people in every society.

You're kidding me, right? lol.
You confuse respect with tolerance, look up the word "respect" and tell us if you respect atheism, deism or any other way of thinking that doesn't require brainwashing using guilt tactics or worship of divinity.
I can tolerate your beliefs but I don't respect Abrahamic religions, especially Christianity and Islam - they brainwash people into a superiority complex.
