I like cats all the way. Dogs are nice to play with, but they require too much attention to own. Cats are kinda antisocial sometimes. They like to be played with and cuddle, but you can also leave them alone for a few days if you give them enough food and water and a fresh litterbox. They don't require as much attention and they dont' get too big. I want a kitten but I can't have one where I live. :(

That's a tough one. We've had both ... and at the same time. But at the age we are, with health problems, we chose cats this time. They are litter-mates and we keep them indoors. Dogs need more attention and need to be walked. Also, when we go away for a day or two, a cat-sitter can come in twice a day to check up on them. Whereas with a dog, we'd have to place it in a kennel, which would cause it to pine. The cats just act a bit cheesed off when we return, but snap out of it soon enough. In truth, though, we love dogs and cats equally. By the way, what breed of small dog did you find to be quiet? Have never met one of those. Most small breeds are nervous by nature, so inclined to yap out of fear.

I have to say cats as I am scared of dogs. I do think the small ones are cute though and I was thinking of maybe getting one so i could get over my fear of dogs. this may sound stupid but i used to be scared of cats until a few years ago...

I like all animals but grew up with dogs and had dogs for years and years. Then during a time a couple of years ago a cat moved in our yard and we finally decided after many visits indoors to adopt her. She has been a great joy.

There is nothing like the smell of puppy breath or the kiss of a dog. But this cat helped my hubby as he recovered from a very serious illness, as he bent to pet her or give her food, forgetting he had problems in bending, etc.

Just like people like or dislike certain other people, human like or dislike various animals. Variety is the spice of life!

I like both! Currently, I have a lab-mix (she's not annoying, slobbery or noisy), and a silly black and white kitten who likes to harass the poor old dog.

As an owner of both, i cant say one or the other. its all up to you and what you need. If you leave the house for long periods of time cats are great, they don't need you to go potty. while dogs need more attention either one will give you unconditional love.

I like my cat. He sits up and speaks on command. And he isn't so interested in getting attention that he runs up to anyone who comes into my apartment.
