if the intruder was a threat or going to cause harm to the priest or anyone else.. then yes.
Or if the priest confronted the intruder and he was going to attack the priest then yes he should be shot.

In California that would be against the law, as excessive. If the preacher was attacked by a thief within the church then I think I would be OK to shoot him and send him on to God for any judgment or forgiveness. (tongue in cheek, all you very dense ones)

I'm imagining Samuel L. Jackson as the preacher - carving the 23rd psalm into the bullets with a nail before loading the gun.

yes, legally it's ok. he has a right to protect his life, his congregation and his property.
if the offender is killed while the indecent occurred the preacher would not be brought up on charges. BUT if the offender is still alive the offender could sue the preacher and the church.
the law varies state by state.

No. Regardless if that person was going to cause harm to anyone not. As a preacher isn;t their job not interfere with Gods working? No matter of how negative that mayseem to be.

Yes. Breaking and entering is a crime. There is also the "Make my Day" law. Why should it be any different for a preacher then anyone else? They are people just like you and me. They don't have go-go gadget arms, they can't make themselves less of a target, and they can't magically deflect bullets.

Yep. The guy might break into my house next and I'd have to shoot him. That could stain my carpet.
Added: I live in Texas. No legal problems here. If you are in my house, I can and will shoot you.

I think it's as ok as anyone else defending their live, home or place of business from an intruder, and the use of deadly force should be on a case by case basis.

Yes. He certainly has a right to defend himself and the church property, that he has been entrusted with. I think it's SAD that he would HAVE TO, but I defend his right to do so.
