It is real simple.
If you persist in rebelling against God and practicing your sin, He will not only cease from gently persuading you to stop your evil-doing, but will actually harden your heart to speed up the process of your demise.
"A man who hardens his neck after much reproof
Will suddenly be broken beyond remedy."
Proverbs 29:1
So why let it come to that?
Repent, and believe the Gospel.

jeez. you know, not to hate atheists only, but i hate most of their reasons to prove christianity as false. They take things from the bible and take it so bluntly, or they don't include other meanings into it.
In the old testement, BEFORE jesus died for our SINS, God punished people how he did.
God sends judgement on believers as well.
what does the devil have to do with original sin?
and God didn't create the devil- the devil was an angel who thought he could overpower his own creator. and then you might say, "but God basically still created the devil, because he could've prevented it all being an all knowing God." If you were at all truly involved in christianity you would know the devil helps us grow towards god, as well as develope faith. There are other reasons as well, but being a 13 year old i haven't memoirzed all of the bible.
stay tuned for another edition of atheism beats chrsitianity again? yea right. and weren't you the one that was complaining how christianity has no free will? and when did religion become a contest?
also, in response to XX, everyone's responsible for their own actions. if you decide to pick up a knife and kill me, aren't you the one that did it? despite the devil's temptations, he never forces us to do anything because he can't. every action is of our own responsibility. you can't sin around and blame it on the devil.
wefmeister had a good point too. feel "beaten" yet?
and the original sin was not the devil's doing. yes, it would not have happened if the snake (the devil) had not tempted them, but adam and eve still had choice. did you ever read that the snake was strangling them both until they took a bite of the apple?

But...what am I if my heart is still tender, yet I don't believe...but my arteries are hardened? Is God just poor at aiming, or does God work in mysterious bacon?

No devil would mean that they are responsible for their own actions... no Christian wants that.
