I live in a decent middle-class city in Los Angeles and I have to spend money through the gazoo sending my young child to a private school because the cute little public school down the street teaches to the ESL level. HOW FAIR IS THAT? I pay taxes so illegals can put their kids into the American school system and dumb it down??
Right--so it's not the poor little immigrant kids' faults--it's their parents. But if our government dropped the archaic, ludicrous anchor baby law we wouldn't HAVE so many illegals piling over our borders to have kids in OUR hosipitals at OUR expense. BTW, in CA over 50% of the kids in public school are on the free lunch program. Guess which kids these are, and guess who pays for their lunches? It must be nice not to have to make your kid lunch everyday like I do. I'm so disgusted with the American government that I'm ready to leave my country--and I'm an 8th generation American. We're becoming Mexico Norte.

I do not agree. In fact I am appauled that they came to this decision. It's just like a Democrat to not see what is important to the American people and give into the bleeding hearts. They didn't take a life in the literal sense, however, they take away the innocense, trust, and youthfulness of the child. They might as well have killed the child. Same with rape of an adult, you take away thier livelyhood, always living in fear. It definatley fits the crime. In todays America crime is high because criminals fear nothing since society thinks they can be changed. The punishments are always mitigated down because liberal judges think its too harsh for the full penalty. This country is going to hell in a hand basket if they don't do something about the CJ system. Cops are getting laughed at because every person they arrest the person is out on bail faster than the paperwork is filed. Prisons are just revolving door 2 star hotels with all the ammenities. Fear is what keeps people in line, without it there can be no order. I am saying don't just limit the death penalty, open it up for a multitude of crimes, repeat offenders, etc. This will make many think twice before doing something stupid. That's why a lot of 3rd world countries have little or no crime. Thier governments are screwed up, but if you look at crime stats they are lower than any major city in the United States. They do it out of fear and harsh punishment.

If the child is a citizen yes. I think however, the law should require the parents to present their legal status papers at the the time of enrolment. If the parents' are not legally here, ICE should be notified.
If the child is not a citizen and here illegally, then the child should be deported along with the parents. A free education is paid for by American taxpayers and should be a right of those who reside legally in the nation.
Children of legal immigrants should be entitled to the same educational opportunities as citizens.
ESL classes should not be in public schools.

I do not agree with the Supreme Court ruling. Our Constitution is being distorted to extremes. How blatantly they are demanding rights while they have entered and reside illegally in this country. Our schools are paid for by us parents, U.S. citizens, for the benefit of our children. Perhaps the Supreme Court should foot the bill for the education of millions of illegals. Further, our time and money is being wasted as it is shown in this link that a large majority are unsuccessful in school and end up dropping out. Couple that with their illegal status and it simply makes no sense that our courts would even give illegals their day in a system of laws they never respected in the first place, unless for their own gain.

No. I think it was a legislative policy process, not judicial application of law they followed, at a time when the baby boomers were in their funding frenzy of programs and seemed unlikely to retire to the point of draining the programs they funded for later need.

It was before our schools were ruined so that the 'basic right of education' is now being denied our own children in order to provide substandard education to our own plus those who come illegally, and their children.

I think this needs to be changed either by court interpretation or by a constitutional amendment. We can get rid of automatic birthright citizenship, as have every EU country and Canada, at the same time.

It draws them here 'for the children' and any parent understands that the pull will continue unless the benefit is removed.

No I do not, OUR kids are falling behind in THEIR paid for education simply because the illegals are learning English as a second language. So while over worked teachers struggle to teach kids who can't speak English, where does that leave our kids?

If the parents are illegal, they aren't paying the astronomical school taxes we pay. Yet their kids can set ours back? This is wrong! But it's happening everywhere. We don't like it, but what's going to happen to the next generation?

No, the cost is astronomical. We have to hire teachers that are bi-lingual since the illegals don't speak English.
If the Dream Act is enacted we will pay for their college also. Who pays for your kids college education?

NO......Who pays for the education....tax payers and illegals dont pay taxes. Also those kids are holding back the educational progress of the other kids because of their lack of the english language

No, because taxpayers that are struggling to support their own families and communities should not be required to support the children of people who break into the country and are citizens of another country. It is just another incentive for people to try to sneak in here.
