I am out of vanilla extract and I am baking a banana bread. Do you think I should replace the the vanilla with maple syrup or just leave it out all together? Or do you have another suggestion besides going to the store and buying more vanilla!

Vanilla has a unique taste. Go to the store.

My recipe doesn't even call for vanilla. I add it if I have it, but it's not necessary. It will taste just as good without. I also usually use 1 banana more than the recipe calls for. Using maple syrup or a different flavored extract will really mess with it and it probably wouldn't taste very good.

Leave it out. Unless you are feeling particuraly adventurous, in that case you could substitute almond extract or rum extract. I wouldn't use maple syrup - just to taste it (like you would the hint of vanilla) you would have to use quite a bit.

I'd definitely go to the store for vanilla; banana bread should NOT be tampered with :-)

Eat a bite for me!!!

Just leave it out. If you want, add 1 tsp of water and that'll take care of the liquid the vanilla called for.

My recipe for banana bread does not even call for vanilla at all and it is delicious. You don't need it, it will still taste yummy.

i think u should just leave it out all together. i don't think it would taste right with maple syrup as a substitute

leave it out... you may notice a slightly different taste, but not enough to notice! (I wouldn't substitute maple syrup! it has a much higher sugar content and could mess up the batter!)

No. Leave it alone and don't add any flavoring. It is not added in all banana bread recipes; you won't miss it, probably. It will be fine without it.
