finding a halloween costume for her. Does anyone have any suggestions? She's also fairly tall for her age. We really need some ideas. We are going to be at church manning the harvest festival booths but she still wants a costume. Any sensible ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If you can stand it, how about Hannah Montana....Get her the wig, but instead of buying the costume, get a pair of jeans or black leggings. Then a cute oversized top that comes down a little longer. And some cowboy boots and some fun accessories and you should be set. Try Target or Kohl's for some inexpensive options.

There are plenty of options=)
She can dress up from any different era, like the 50's, or the 80's.
She can wear a long button down shirt, some leggings, jewelry, etc to be from the 80's

A poodleskirt, a big bow, and a white shirt, for the 50's

The Hannah Montana idea is great!
That's what my 9 year old sister is going to be=)

A princess would always be cute..
If you had to get a bigger size, and would end up being a little long on her, it would be okay.. because princesses have long dresses anyway!
Let her wear a tiara, and dress makeup, and she's feel just like one=)
Good Luck!!

Last year I made a frog costume for my ten year old that was a big hit!

I just got a green sweat suit from Walmart (so size wont matter) and it had print on the top so we turned the whole thing inside out.

Then on it we used fabric glue and glued on spots made from that foam they sell at craft stores . We took two big Styrofoam balls and covered them in green yarn and added black and white eyes with that same foam.

On her hands and feet we found some green socks that she wore... We had to buy two packages but she got some other socks in the deal so it wasn't a bad deal.

We were going to add make up but forgot until it was too late.

She was precious...

There was also the year she was a snake... That was some doing...

So anyway, all this was just to say it is possible and fun to make costumes that you don't have to sew.

Try also asking in crafts...

First I would like to say I think it is great that you are getting a head start on Halloween costuming! Next, it is great that your church is having a festival for the kids to allow them to enjoy this holiday in a safe and loving environment. Now to your dilemma, since you have time before the event please look into making your own costume. It can be fun for both you and your daughter and give you valuable mother/daughter time. There are plenty of websites that can offer you plenty of wonderful ideas.

something you can make out of regular clothes, a gypsy with beads and earrings, long skirt and head scarf. A cat with black clothes and a headband and tail. Find a thrift store prom dress and make her a princess, or a zombie. The possibilities really are endless. But you might have to look beyond store bought costumes and think of how to dress up (or down) regular clothes.

I agree that you can make your own costume. If you don't sew, you can find lots of ideas for costumes that don't require sewing online. Do an internet search for "no sew costume."

We went to a costume party a few years ago that had several clever homemade costumes. One girl had glued Smarties candy all over a pair of sweatpants. When someone asked what she was, she said, "I'm a Smarty Pants!" Another glued inflated purple balloons all over her clothes and said she was a bunch of grapes.

Good luck!

I have the opposite problem
My daughter has legs that fix size ten, and waist size 6x
Slims do not fit, they are shorten, and waist does not fit

try this website
www.halloween-store.com
have children size large 12-14
They might have the prefect costume
They have extra large and husty size

Look out Dinsey online shoping
the Kim possiable cheerleading outfit
The large is huge, I got it for lenght, that is okay, can not keep up the bottom. Way too big

Make her a costume. Growing up, my mom always made me my own costumes and they were far better than any store-bought piece of crap. Mine looked authentic and I always won costume contests. Once you make it, you will see what I mean. And this way you can make it fit perfectly and comfortably.

Clown outfit? That seems to cover a multitude of sins, I was a chunky child myself and it doesn't matter if it doesn't quite fit the legs because you are a clown you can be goofy like that!
