are they really unable to find the extraordinary good things life can offer? do they have friends, families, interests, hobbies?
dont they want to visit different places, meeting different people? dont they need to experience new things?
how can a life be so empty, be such a waste that only believing in a higher entity (that may or may not exist) can give a purpose to it?

I am a Christian and I don't believe that. Though this world is imperfect and tainted by sin, God wants us to live the very best lives we can. God gave us this earth, at the beginning of time, to enjoy and to Cherish, and to not do that, I believe is an insult to God and his creation. The best things of this world give us a little fore taste of how awesome God is; that should be exciting.

We know things are and will be great for our lives now and after we die. We will go on eternally and never look back at what might have been because we will be experiencing the best of our lives. Every day gets sweeter and sweeter because we have experienced life and know there is a crown for us in heaven. We do pity you because you won't accept the free gift.

Empty? no time for emptiness because we have a joyful and happy life to live here. I hope for a lot more life here, but even so, if the time is now, come, Lord Jesus. I am 71 and love life but I am ready to go to the happy place. Just think, no moaning nor bitching nor complaining because we want others to go with us. What a pleasure to get away from the scarcasm and the lack of love.

Yes, I believe Mother Theresa was NOT a Christian.

You just misunderstood what Christians meaneth. What Christian means is that if you don't believe in God, then your life is in vain (useless). For we are all here because of God, even Lord Jesus has created us, John 1:3, meaning it's actually all about God why we are existed!

So, for Christians, they have a blessed hope for the life to come, when the New Heaven and New Earth be in place.
Isaiah 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.

Rev 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2Pe 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

So, if you do not believe to a Mighty Creator God, even Lord Jesus Christ, then your life has no purpose at all. Eat, merry and die the style of your life (Ecc 3:20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again).
No hope, no desire for a life after death and no visions at all for the life to come, Proverbs 29:18. AMEN.

I have all those things (family, travel, friends, hobbies), but outside of following the purpose that God has created me for, I kinda feel like I'm stuck in an endless cycle, working, making money, paying bills, working some more. I feel like a hamster on a wheel. Throw in the occassional vacation, you know, just a short break from the wheel.

Knowing God and learning where He has planned for me to go, things to accomplish, gives me more life while I'm in the hamster wheel. Knowing that there is a purpose for running in circles for this time period of my life. I would feel hopeless if I thought I'd be living in this cycle forever.

When I was young, I always wanted to go to the ocean and see the beach, collect seashells. I dreamed of the day, I wanted to have the sand squeeze through my toes, and hear the gulls and feel the wind in my face and long hair. I finally got to go with my sister. I loved it so very much, but something was missing. If only my love was there to share this magic moment with me. It seemed empty without him. It took a lot of the purpose of my visit to the beach away.

I guess you would say the same is true about believers. To know that the Changeless One you share your dreams with, that you gave your heart to, that you communicate with in happy times as well as in the saddest of moments. The one you cry for in the night, and you know will always be there to look up to, to have that gone out of your life, and to never to have known that peace and unquestioning love, would be unfathomable.

The argument that I hear is different than that. Athiests and other god-less people go through life with a "if it feels good, do it" hippy lifestyle , or drug addicted , or selfish because they don;t believe in an afterlife and have no reason to put limits and checks and balances in their lives. THey live their life in the blind pursuit of pleasure and instant gratification.
Christians forsake these selfish and destructive choices because they believe in God.

I have learned something about people who have never had a personal relationship with God and Jesus. They simply have not experienced the inner joy and fulfillment of the relationship. They don't and can't understand how this joy surpasses any place you can visit or any thing you can do. As a matter of fact our relationship with God enhances our relationships, travels, family, friends etc.We even enjoy nature better because it reminds us so much of our heavenly Father's handiwork.

For many we need to believe in the impossibility of ending or else we will despondent, sad. People want to believe that our world has a meaning, a purpose greater than what we see. It's something that is at the heart of the human being.

What do atheists dream for?

when you die, you can't your wealth with you.
when you die, your friends will view your dead body for the last time.
when you die, everything you have gained has went for naught.
when you die, all the efforts you made have been lost forever.
when you die, all you have proved has been proven fruitless.

that is an atheist standpoint.

As a Christian, my hopes will never fade in this life or eternity.
when I die, if there is no god, I have gained as much as you have.
when I die, and THERE IS A GOD, eternity with Him and Jesus is the biggest gain anyone could have.
I have my family, and my brothers and sisters in Christ. With that size family, that will be a reunion I would not want to miss.

There in a living God, Jesus Christ ,he is more precious than any silver or gold, he is a friend that is closer than any brother, All they have to do is seek and you will find, knock and he will open the door, answer you. What a Joy to know he is there, to forgive you if you make a mistake and will defend you when others condemn you.
