I quit smoking in June, i dont crave for them anymore, and the smell repulses me...but i have had a personality change...i used to be very mellow and relaxed, now i am more high strung and very irritable...is this a permanent thing or will i return at least partway back to myself soon?

I quit 3 1/2 years ago and yes I changed but not permanently it'll just take awhile for you to pick up new and healthier habits. I started walking instead of staying home cause that's when you tend to eat and then came the weight gain from trying to fulfill the loss of that smoke. Be wise and I think you'll be just fine, it takes awhile but you'll do it. Good Luck

You're still experiencing some withdrawal. It takes a certain amount of time to get the drug out of your body. It also takes a certain amount of time to get it out of your brain. Nicotine is both physically and mentally addictive. Once you're totally and completely rid of the drug you should return to your old mellow self. Watch out for weight gain though.

Congrats of stopping smoking. Your symptoms will pass and you will get back to your old self. My husband when through it. If you are not exercising or walking, it might be good to start doing something like that. Getting the blood circulating makes you feel better....

Because stress arises whenever you resist life, you now need to accept life as it is, to stop stress before it arises.

Smoking was an unhealthy coping mechanism. You now have the tool that makes it unnecessary. Good luck.

You are still adjusting to the lack of nicotine. I have not smoked in l2 years and it takes time to get it out of your system and find good ways to spend your time that keep your mind off it. you will come out of it. give it time. you have already done the best thing you could do for your health.

You can't predict your future, or your future emotions. :) So the answer is that we don't know yet. Congrats on not smoking anymore though. :)
