I went to University to study Chemcial Engineering and learnt enough to get a job as a chemical engineer. Thirty years after graduating I am still working as a chemical engineer and still using information that I learnt at both university and high school.
Having said that a lot of things that I studied turned out to be not much use. Going away to University taught me how to cook. Eating your own mistakes is a big incentive to learn.
