I guess I think El Paso is an unusual place for this to start.

What do you think of this?

Petey, it sounds like DC has thousands fewer students this year. The article I read said the parents of kids illegally here were thought to be keeping them out.

Here's the DC link. I'm still thinking about El Paso, but I don't see why they are actually trying to convince those illegally here to come to school, either. This is a new wrinkle; I need to think it through.

Dar, I would think that El Paso would NOT be the place to start for this...but hey it is...
Although I am for education and used to teach, I am glad this is happening...our schools are overcrowded as it is...also, the taxpayer is paying for childrens families that have not contributed into the educational system. In other words, we need to take back our schools for our childrens sake...

This woman takes the cake!

"Martina Morales, an immigrant advocate with the Border Network for Human Rights, said Chaparral residents have reported an increase in what she said is police harassment during the past two months, culminating in Monday's raids. The raids and the rumors surrounding them are paralyzing the community, Morales said.

Want to stop the harassment? Go home! These people are here illegally, if the Feds won't uphold the law it's falling on the States and Counties. I cheer these guys on... here is someone NOT afraid to take a stand.
