Yes, it is an idol, and so are all the Catholic statues that they bow and pray to. Catholicism is guilty of all kinds of paganism and violation of the 2nd commandment. (That's why Catholics removed it from "their" version of the 10 Commandments.)

Does it really matter? Is it against your religion/does it bother you if you have an idol?
From what you're saying, no, it's not idol worship. You don't believe that the goddess is contained by or partially resides in the statue, nor do you actually pray to the statue.

No, it is not an idol. You worship the Goddess, not the statue... So do the Catholics... They worship their God, not the statues... what you are hearing are church people who don't want to believe that the Goddess is real. It's another example of Church dictating beliefs to those who know better!

To me, the term idol has no fear attached. It's the same word that became "doll," and just means an image. But of course there are "double standards" between Christians and non-Christians, between Catholics and Protestants, etc., etc., etc.
No easy answers; you're going to have to decide the moral implications yourself. And given that you are visualizing "the goddess" (which one?), I suspect you have made your choice. I find it a reasonable one.
P.S. My statue of Isis is where you could see it if you could look out of the monitor.

I have statues too. They are representations for our own benefit.
Not an idol unless you pray TO it. Unless you think the piece of clay/brass/ whatever is Her and not a representation.

I am not Catholic. I beleive that praying to anything or anyone other than the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Three in one, God of Gods is idol worship. So, it does not matter to me if anyone is praying to a dead person, a different god or to a statue or to their cat, praying to anything other than that is idol worship. I point no fingers at anyone, I only state what I believe.

Ok...well if its a goddess I would assume you have pagan tendencies which means we don't give a damn who or what you worship. We have idols all over the damn place. You're arguement isn't well put together....

I'm a Pagan so religious artwork of any kind whether 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional, does not matter to me.

Catholics do not worship statues. We do not believe.....actually we KNOW that statues do not have any intrinsic power.
