Some of my personal favorites are "Crossroads"(live version) by Eric Clapton. "Stormy Monday Blues" Allman Brothers and "Loan Me A Dime" by Boz Scaggs.

I love listening to all kind of blues and blues performers; so I hope nobody misinterprets this as a racist question.

I've had 2 long time favorites and still can't decide which one moves me more.......Today it's Peter Green & Fleetwood Mac's cover of "Need Your Love So Bad", originally by Little Willie John. As classic and as haunting as you can get, no doubt.

The second choice would be Boz Scagg's cover of Fenton Robinson's "Somebody, Loan Me A Dime".

I have to go with the the PG/Fleetwood Mac tune, strictly because of the ensemble playing. I don't think "Somebody, Loan Me A Dime" would've carried that much weight if Duane Allman hadn't contributed the amazing guitar work he did.

It really doesn't matter much, because both of these songs are legendary covers, equal or better than the originals. You don't hear that very often, especially in heavily covered blues music.

Well, I am kinda old school ... so I like the 1929 recording by white bluesman Dick Justice of the song "Cocaine"

While not a cover, Jimmy Rogers' song 'Blue Yodel 9' uses a lot of lyrics common to the songs of the time.

As for 'modern' stuff, I love Clapton"s cover of Bobby Blue Bland's Further on Up the Road. I also dig Clapton's cover of "I'm Tore Down"

But you know what? I really dig Led Zep's covers of the BLind Willie Johnson tunes "Nobody's Fault But Mine" and "In My Time of Dying" (even if they did change all the damn words)

Not at all racist. It's hard to resist playing the blues.

My favorites are:

Ray Charles' "Drown In My Own Tears" covered by Johnny Winter

and

Leadbelly's "Black Betty", turned into a hard rock song by Ram Jam

Led Zeppelin's "You Shook Me" (cover of Willie Dixon's song.)
In fact most of Led Zeppelin's first two albums were either credited covers of old blues songs or uncredited reworkings and blatant ripoffs. They were still damned good though.

Allman Brothers' "Whipping Post" (don't remember who the original artist was)

Eric Clapton, everything on the "Unplugged" album that wasn't his.
