Will I be eligible for traffic school even though I am not from the state and have had a ticket in the past 18 months but in a different state? I am debating fighting the ticket since the cop was driving towards me when he clocked me and said I was going 63, but by the time he was behind me I was definitely not going more than 55. The speed limit on almost the entire stretch of highway is 55, and there was even a sign about 100 feet behind where he pulled me over that said 55 but he said there was a stretch for a little that was 45 and he gave me a ticket for a 63 in a 45. I also feel I was targeted because of my CA plates since there was a car ahead of me with NY plates that I wasn't even gaining ground on. Do you think I have a case?

You can try. Tickets can go either way. Sometimes the officer will not come to court and it will be dismissed. Sometimes they are happy to come to court and you will probably end up with a fine. The fine is the same whether you go to court or not, so if you have the time to fight it, go for it..

most cops will target you b/c you have out of state plates, so you're more prone to just pay the fine rather than going to traffic school. If you choose to go to traffic school you would have to attend it in NY...But you can only go to traffic school once every 2- 3 years. Its hard to prove that you we're targeted, but if you're really intent on fighting it i would get a good lawyer.

Just admit you were speeding and pay the ticket.
