If Jesus tells you something, in no uncertain terms, then why do you insist on ignoring him and looking for excuses to justify yourself?

Could it be that you have no faith in what Jesus told you? At least, not enough faith to do what you're told without arguing about it?

Read Matthew 5:38-48 and then come back here and tell me why you still think you should defend yourself.

It's their ego's arguing. Tons of people think that their ego's are their identity, and, according to societies rules, everyone has the right to express their personal "opinions" about everything. Jesus, who came among us with one basic message....Goodness, Truth, and Love...it's so simple, and yet the hardest for most to do. "These are the cornerstones of our lives. They and they alone are the essence of what will endure." So, they can bicker all they want. Most people have lost their spirituality. Some, never even heard of it. This is a very hollow society we live in nowadays. Too many people, with too many opinions, all because "they can". The computer, the wide media coverage....it's all gone to their heads.

If you are referring to "Turn the other cheek" The verse goes

"If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also."

People in that culture used their right hand to slap people, so if they hit your right cheek it would be a back hander therefore an insult. So in order to turn things around, if you presented the other cheek, the left one, if they were to strike you it would then be a forhanded hit which would consitute a blow rather than an insult and become "Assault" this would then have the offender in trouble with the laws and courts, so when Jesus said "Turn the other cheek" he was showing people how to take passive control of a situation where someone has tried to take control of you, quite the opposite of just sitting there and taking it.

"If someone takes your shirt, let him have your coat as well"

It was an offense to cause someone to be naked, if they took your shirt and they were left holding your coat as well they would be in trouble with the law.

"If someone forces you 1 kilometre, go 2 kilometres" When the soldiers marched people it was the law to march them 1 kilometre with a pack and then passs it on to the next person to preserve energy for the slaves, if the soldires were found to let anyone go more than 1 kilometre/mile then they would be in deep trouble

These three are examples of when the aggressore has things turned around, putting the passive person in charge of the situation, Jesus philosophy is quite deep and clever

Edit: Yes I read the whole thing, did you read my answer, there is obviously no point in us having a debate as you are taking this passage literally and I'm not, but that's cool, at least we can agree to disagree, which is impossible to do with most christians

because the false pastors preach another Jesus

For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

i have every right to argue with jesus, he told me that he did it right, when in fact he didn't! when the blades of the lawn mower are NOT sharpened it doesn't cut the grass correctly. I'm right, jesus is wrong!
