If the first thing you do when faced with a minor or average problem is ask a supreme being for guidance and/or help, then I would answer: decrease

Depends on what religion, but usually it decreases it. Intentionally, I might add. You are not supposed to rely on yourself, but on God or Allah or the leaders of the organization, or the sacred text, or anything but your own good judgment and sense of responsibility. The exceptions are Buddhists and probably some others which are more spiritual pathways than religions as Westerners mean the term.

As if the countless drugs prescribed to people don't decrease self-reliance. There are drugs for everything. If you don't want to feel bad, pop a pill. If you want to feel happy pop a pill. Pills for our children, hell even pills for our pets. Then when people stop taking the pills and realize that their problems are still there, they get even worst.

Well i would say Decrease if you rely on him
But at the same time
when u ask Him for help, it gives u confidence in yourself to do whatever you're about to do with God by your side
so i would say
it increases ur self-Confidence and you still have to rely on yourself

No where in the Bible did Jesus teach Religion, but he did teach one kingdom, one body, one Father, one Lord, One spirit, strength comes from the Lord, if we are in his will. We learn to trust and lean on him, that he will guide us to where we need to be. when you find a Church that is under persecution, like Christ was then, you will be in a good Church.

Decrease. It's unnecessary. You don't need religion.
