Give lots of water, bland dog food and plenty of rest. My puppy had this once and I had to get a pill from the vet, not very pricey though. Just watch him!

Don't feed for 12-24 hours, make sure he has plenty of water so he doesn't dehydrate. Yes he can die, if he dehydrates then his organs will begin to shut down. Give him a pepcid AC tablet for his stomach. If he's a puppy only give 1/2. Full grown dog get's a whole tablet. It's what they prescribed for my dog when she got really bad gastroenteritis. Then after 24 hours feed a bland diet, boiled white rice for a day should do it. Purchase a sensitive stomach dog food in the same brand as what you are currently feeding. Feed for 14 days, then introduce back in his regular food.
However, If after 24 hours he still has bad diarrhea take him to a vet.

You need to take him to a vet.
Diarrhoea has many possible causes - bacterial, viral, blocked intestines, allergies. It depends on what the cause is as to how serious it is, but the diarrhoea itself can dehydrate the dog pretty badly if left, and this can cause the dog to deteriorate.
You should always get any new animal checked by a vet - this one obviously needs it. If you ever have a medical question about an animal, that's what vets are there for.

It can be many things including Parvo which if not treated right away is almost always fatal. It's not something you can leave a day or 2 to see what happens.
I'm praying it's nothing to worry about, but it's a risk you can;t take.
Good luck!

The diarrhea won't kill him but the underlying cause could. It could be parvo or something equally serious. He could also die from the dehydration the diarrhea is causing. He needs to be seen by a vet.

Could be from the new move (anxiety) to change of food or the combination of it. If condition persists without any improvement within 2 days, take him to vet.

It can be a symtom of something that can cause the dog to die. A vet visit is in order ASAP!
