It's like that commercial that I've seen that keeps saying " People are smart"
I guess falling and puking all over the place and not remembering anything sounds safer than say
heightening the senses with no car crashes or fights.
Marijuana is non addictive and fairly safe,
So this works similar to our health care there is no money to be made in feeling well, so we are all sold on the things that are most harmful, if they make drinking more appealing and (yes the fact that it's legal does make it more appealing) then that's more money to be made from drunk driving and liver disease.
Marijuana has no serious side effects and is impossible to overdose on so to make the maximum prophet from us they make it illegal to possess b/c your not going get in a fight or crash your car, so they have forced zero tolerance which equals zero thinking!!! We all know alcohol is the real "gateway drug" Alcohol destroys Families, Marriage, Realtionships and our lives.
We let non violent marijauna users be arrested and detained like criminals, when in reality we are really discriminating against an individual's preffered taste.
So in short it's easier to make money from marijuana smokers by keeping it illegal b/c we won't get ourselves in trouble with it unless we're also drinking at the same time.
They can make a ton of money selling us alcohol legally and arresting us afterward or "treating" liver disease .

it started with a anti-Mexican sentiment in Texas, and the Mexicans enjoyed weed so a good way to jail the Mexicans was to make weed illegal, also hemp, the rest of the plant, was a cheap alternative to cotton, and could be used to make paper clothing and rope. this bothered already well established companies who had a lot of weight in the American government, so they pushed to make weed illegal. this was done with the system that required you to get a tax stamp for weed, but you couldn't have weed if you didn't have the stamp, and you couldn't get the stamp without the weed. later this was deemed unconstitutional, that is when all of the propaganda about the evils of weed came out, witch led to the controlled substance act or something, don't remember the name, which made weed illegal outright. though such laws where previously deemed unconstitutional. the war on drugs America has going on today is just like prohibition a huge waste of money that is making no impact, except for putting small time criminals in jail....
...damn that was long hope this somehow answered your question.

Thats a good question. I dont like marijuana cause it makes me paranoid, but i have nothing against it. Ok lawmakers say its "illegal" so everyone believes it is. But you are right its no better than an alcoholic that drinks and drives or who comes home and abuses his family!! If you can handle it and arent afraid of getting caught go right ahead!!

The answer to your question is very simple, Money.Liqour isn't illegal because it generates millions of Taxable dollars and its almost impossible for the average joe to make.Marijuana is a plant,it comes from seeds and also produces it's own seeds. So almost anyone can plant a seed outside and produce marijuana, untaxable marijuana. To put it plain and simple there is no way to tax it so ban it.

I think marijuana should have been legalized a long time ago; I think it's silly that pot for personal use should be illegal. Of course, I also think that laws for driving under the influence should apply to pot if it IS legalized; somebody driving stoned is NOT the sort of person I'd care to meet on the highway.

Politics; plain and simple.

Obviously, the Netherlands has no problem with it. Our closest friends had an extended visit there this year and they reported that the country looks better than the US for the most part; clean and orderly. It's not like cannabis users are lying in the streets.

William Randolph Hearst and Harry J Anslinger (Head of FBN) worked together to stir up public sentiment against pot.

The hue and cry for booze was much greater

You bring up a good point ... I don't know of a person whose ever been pulled over unless they were drunk. No one has ever been pulled over for smokin' out (that I know).
