What are appropriate art themes for a master bedroom shared with my husband? I would like a romantic theme but are themes like Degas ballerinas, or paintings of couples, or florals o.k or too feminine? Should it be something like landscapes? If you have any specific paintings in mind, it would also help. Thanks

I would try to stay away from ballerinas and too much floral in the traditional sense. Landscapes to me tend to be more appropriate for general living areas. I would look at really nice warm graphics that are gender neutral. It doesn't hurt then to throw in a floral that is more contemporary rather than the traditional. Create the romance with warm inviting colors and fabrics in bedding but in solids. Put in a chandelier instead of an overhead ceiling fan. Paint one wall, usually the one the bed is on a drama color. And fabric headboards really create a romantic look.

Check out this:

Elaine, Lady of Shalott by Alfred Lord Tennyson

Or Peaches and Cream or Crackers in Bed by Olivia DeBerardinis at http://www.eolivia.com

I would hang an Olivia in a minute except for the fact that I have small sons. We have landscapes instead.

Many options are available.
What color is the room? Blue may remind you of water scenes, green may remind you of field or pasture scenes.
Yellow - maybe Italian landscapes or architecture, orange - sunrise. Pink or rose - flowers, purple - mountains.
Also this is a great place to put up private souveniers - collage of honeymoon, and courtship pictures; wedding candids, framed brochure/tickets/menu from special occasions.
Any marraige or other inspirational plaques, embroidery, etc.
ALL should be non-confrontational.
ALL should bring pleasant memories, and relaxing thoughts.

I would buy art that went with your bedroom theam or color. Artgazebo.com has some great ideas and you can change the frame, show a room color etc. to help you with your ideas. Good luck.
