Tithing is unbiblical. There is no place in the New Testament that requires it at all. What it does say is that if you want to give, give freely. If you don't want to give, don't.

There is no specific command for the Christian church to give offerings and tithes. Tithes were a part of the old religious system the same system that offered animal sacrifices. Instead we have the direct examples of the first churches taking up collections and helping each other out and contributing together to do the ministry of God.

I notice one person cited o.t. scripture as a support for tithing, and some others got it right, but without much detail.
Tithes were assessed on the increase of produce and livestock only. Tithes were never assessed from wages. Those who earned wages did not tithe.
Any ministry that claims you have to tithe is being deceptive in this regard. They have no Scriptural right to demand tithes or demand them from wages any more than they can demand you practice circumcision or practice sacrifices.

Malachi 3:8 Â Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
Matthew 23:23 Â Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Malachi 3:10 Â Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
Luke 11:42 Â But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Jesus said about money "Give to ceasar what belongs to ceasar and give to god what belongs to god" So if a church asks you to tithe tell them you already paid your taxes. I have no problem with churches asking for donations like a collection plate, but the ones that ask for 10% of your wages? Please
