...a mute can communicate effectively towards God? I have always wondered, since it is stated in the Bible that we have Dominion if we speak. My friend from a couple years back is a mute, and very recently, I've wondered how she is supposed to communicate with God, since, by speaking we communicate better, right? Is someone else supposed to do the prayers for her or what?

Well, then, is a certain kind of prayer more effective than the other one? Like silent prayer and spoken prayer?

Philippians 4:6, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
His Holy Word says He judges "the heart". I can't believe you have never heard of silent prayer. You know that God knows ALL!
He "hears" your thoughts!
The Bible says He gives us "the desires of our hearts!!!
Psalm 55:22, “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”
Surely you don't think a bandage to stop you from calling for help also stops your prayers!!!
Every thought you ever have is a sort of rude prayer in the face of G_d!
If someone prays for you, and accidentally says a different name, God does not accidentally heal the wrong guy. Right!?!
He knows what you need even before you even ask, and the Bible says "The Holy Spirit TRANSLATES our prayers".

I have learn some sign language to assist with translating the church servicve to deaf brothers and sisters. Some deaf people never learn to talk. But they pray and understand signs and reading.
On one way of thinking the limitations are on us, on your question... God has no limitations as He know our thoughts, and you all will agree that He knows and understand them better than we.
---
On effectiness of prayers silent vs spoken...
* God understand them all and act accordingly.
* My spoken or otherwise external (sign language) prayer may help or lead another person in need, but the silent one is the one that God seeks to have with you in private.
God bless you.

Your way of thinking is what is confusing yourself. We communicate with God as soon as our brain processes the thought even without verbally speaking it. God is able to pick up this unheard signal that us humans are not capable of. He is also quite capable of picking up these processed thought signals in people who can speak but don't verbally say whats on their mind. Or even when you are thinking one thing and saying another. What I am trying to say is that God knows what your thinking without even saying it. So to all you mute people out there, don't ever think God doesn't hear your prayers. He does loud and clear.

Depends on how she communicates with others...
Does she use sign language to communicate...if so, no translator required, I'm sure God knows sign language as well as he knows any other language on earth.
Does she write messages, is so, then God knows how to read too. The way I understand it, a mute person has a voice, it just isn't external...fortunately God knows what is in our heart and our minds and he can hear what your friend would say to him no matter how she actually says it.

I pray silently most of the time. You can speak silently too. God is the only one you’re speaking to and he hears silent prayer.
Jesus seems to encourage silent prayer when he tells us to go into our room and shut the door.

To be born again it is an act of faith that one does. For most it is verbily confessing Jesus Christ ones Lord honestly from ones heart & to God. And for a mute person, they can sign language to God & water baptism is more important. See? God created by Gods Word & Gods Faith. So, also, Jesus heals the mute. And so, your friend needs healing. And can speak from her mind to God also. I would encourage her to make a public confession in sign language & water baptism. And to be prayed for a miracle healing to speak.

Heb 4:12 For the Word of God is living, and powerfully working, and sharper than every two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of both soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge of the thoughts and intentions of the heart;
I don't believe God or this individual are hampered in the least by your friends inability to speak. Perhaps they communicate better than the rest of us, who are able to say one thing with our mouth while thinking something else.
In His Service,
John the Baptist

Through prayer. God hears even silent prayers said in our hearts.
Nehemiah 2:4
In turn the king said to me: “What is this that you are seeking to secure?” At once I prayed to the God of the heavens.

Keep in mind that God is infinitely just and merciful. He knows your friend cannot speak. He will not hold this against her. If she "thinks" her prayers, that is fine. The point is that she is praying.

God hears all prayers,
whether they are spoken or not.
We say prayers without speaking them.
As long as we're sincere in our prayer, God will listen.
He always has.

Jesus saves :)
