Osama Bin Laden started it.
Pretty much the world will get involved to some degree... hence the term "world war."
No nukes.
Not conventional warfare either. Urban terrorism anad people blowing themselves into heaven taking civilians with them is not conventional.

We already had WWIII. it was the Cold War.
We are now in WWIV fighting the Al Qaida
Terrorist Organizations. WWIV started with the Iranian takeover of the US Embassy in Tehran, Iran in 1979 and all of the other Islamo-fascist

WWI and WWII were so named because of the amount of nations involved in those conflicts.
How many nations were involved in the 'Gulf War' ?

It won't be called a third world war. In order to have a real world war like we had in the first two, we have to have identifiable sides of conflict--involving a host number of countries.
Simply put, this is a religious war--pitting fake Christians against Muslims in an attempt for overall extermination and unchallenged control of the Middle East.
The talk of using nuclear weapons in the Middle East is both foolish and unwarranted.
Conventional weapons will be used, but technologically-speaking, the US has lost its edge to the extremists--since its taken an ultra-right hardline against anyone who isn't with them on their crusade.
An endless war against an ideology as old as civilization itself.

Not much. The Bushies have fewer than 500 days left in office, and they're eying Iran with great interest. Remember the advice from FEMA for a situation like this: buy lots of duct tape. It wouldn't hurt to learn some Chinese, either.
