Hi. I hope your pup is okay right now. I would contact your local vets office and their emergency number will be on their answering service.
Call that number and tell the emergency room vets what your pup ate.
They will want the package insert or the box of heartworm pills...so take that along.
If they will tell you what to give your pup to make him throw up right now that would be terrific.
Hope he is feeling better soon. Please be sure to contact your vet. Blessings, Patti

Probably, but I would give the vet a ring and see if this is toxic and what can be done to counteract the medicine. Generally, a double dose of medicine will not hurt an animal but the Yorkie is so small that you should find out the side effects and made aware of any danger signs. There are many ways this could have happened including the larger dog not swallowing the heartworm medication. We always try to avoid problems however accidents can happen. Good luck!

There is a reason they sell the heartworm pills according to weight. Chances are your dog could suffer an overdose.
You need to contact your vet right away and let them know what happened.

Depending on what the active ingredients are this could be an emergency. Some meds have a wide margin of safety and some do not. Call the vet or poison control and have the pkg handy when you call. Do this quickly as meds absorb in an hour or so into the bloodstream.

Uh-oh, how'd this happen? Call your vet and ask for advice, this may require a trip to the emergency room. If you have to go, bring the package for the heartworm meds.

You can call the manufacturer of the pills. I believe they have a 24/7 phone # for customer assistance.

how long ago did he eat it? it would be best to try and make him throw the pill back up if it's been less than one hour since he ate it. if it's been longer i would call your veterinarian and ask them. you can make him throw up by giving him a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide. if it has been more than one hour, don't try and make him throw up, just call your vet.

Thats nothing. My dog ate my cat's birth control pills, and then he went into heat! I had to change his NAME... But seriously, that just means he won't get heartworms too, right?
