my mom's throat is messed up she has these white dots on her tounge that she said hurts like anything and her throat is red and it hurts and the side of her neck is swallon. she went to our family doctor and he gave antibiotics but its not working what can she do to soothe it for the time being until she makes an appointment with a throat/mouth/nose specailist

It sounds like strep throat or tonsilitis. Gargle with warm salt and water, suck on lozenges, and drink plenty of fluids.
Antibiotics take a couple of days before symptoms start to improve. The infection usually seems to get worse before better because the antibiotics are killing the infection. Tell your mom to be patient and to take ALL of the medication even after she feels better so that the infection is 100% destroyed.

Antibiotics take time to work and your mom must make sure she finishes what the doctor prescribed.
Go back to him if it doesnt begin to clear up 1/2 way through the course of her medications.

over the cownter drugs can help, One over the counter object that always soothes my throat and tastes great is Airborne hard gummy lozenges. It may soother her throat for awhile. It dosen't relieve it but it does take some pain out of your throat so you can take your mind of it. Good Luck, hope your mom feels better!

tell your mom to gargle salt water 3 or 4 times a day.I hope this helps!

give it time it takes time to get into blood stream but go see specialist.
