Area 51 contains an airfield whose primary purpose is believed to be the operation and analysis of enemy aircraft and weapons systems, and secret development and testing of new military aircraft. Area 51 is, supposedly, somewhere in the Nevada desert. This area is said to be the site of a government conspiracy, secret airplanes, flying saucers, mutants, the whole kit and kaboodle as it regards to military and air travel. There have been conspiracy theories written and talked about for years concerning area 51.
Also, there is now a highly rated play station game out, so you can discover it all and live through it. I am unsure as to the accuracy of these games, however have heard they are pretty darned neat.
There are also many, many websites dealing with one or other of these therories and conspiracies. If you type area 51 into a search engine like Google, you will be able to spend hours on this subject and read different reports about, what people think, what has been seen and even some that have gotten close enough to supposedly video tape. So happy exploring and good luck on your project.....you picked an interesting topic!

From first website below: "Area 51, also known as Groom Lake, is a secret military facility about 90 miles north of Las Vegas. The number refers to a 6-by-10-mile block of land, at the center of which is a large air base the government will not discuss. The site was selected in the mid-1950s for testing of the U-2 spyplane, due to its remoteness, proximity to existing facilities and presence of a dry lake bed for landings. Groom Lake is America's traditional testing ground for "black budget" aircraft before they are publicly acknowledged. The facility and surrounding areas are also associated -- with varying levels of credibility -- with UFO and conspiracy stories. In 1989, Bob Lazar claimed on a Las Vegas television station that he had worked with alien spacecraft at Papoose Lake, south of Area 51. Since then, "Area 51" has become a popular symbol for the alleged U.S. Government UFO cover-up."
I once had a computer science teacher who was very intellectual. One day, out of the clear blue, he asked, "Isn't it odd that the transistor was invented in December 1947, just five months after the reported Roswell UFO crash?" (implying it had been reverse engineered)
What do I think is there in Area 51? The remains of 2-3 aliens, and at least one crashed spaceship.

Area 51 is home to our military successful and radically designed air defense weapons arsenal of which we thought once to be impossible to build or even practically work. It's a facility that holds true the motto that wars are won by keeping secrets.
It's home to the declassified SR-71 that flew near the fringes of space at 3,400 mph and took not only clear hi-res pictures at hundreds of frames a second---but could pick off a car's license plate! The Stealth bomber also was PERFECTED for decades of ultra-secret redesign and testing; history hints the plane's first working prototypes were built by the Nazis close to their demise.
And it's a given the military's reluctantly disclosed existence of pilot-less remote air drone planes also were created there.
Aerial photographs of Area 51 show a runway several MILES long, suggesting powerful aircraft take off and land there. And it's evident there are behemoth sized storage areas carved within the mountainsides of the facility as well; likely a grand scale assembly facility for yet--if ever seen--aircraft of extreme radical design and purpose.
I don't belive UFO's of extra-terrestial origin are housed there. I DO belive, and it's speculatory here, that government experiments and REAL efforts into making the stuff of science-fiction folly are going on there.
Imagine Army soldier battlesuits made of fabric polymers that deflect enemy bullets, and are indestructable to missile, gernade and mine explosions. Suits that make the one wearing them perform lethal feats, run at unheard of speeds on foot--jumping several feet into the air, giving one the strength 5 times of a healthy man, vision imaging capable of seeing not only in the dark, but through walls and for miles. One can HEAR the enemy well before they can do any harm. Oh....and another cool perk: small flying cam drones that can sneak out and see around corners or give the solder a small scale arerial view of the battle terrain. And for a few million dollars extra, the soldier can remote operate certain weapons systems with his suit!
Another military speculation could be the creation of silent, massive sized helium powered "zeppelin-type" aircraft that can carry 4 times what our current troop and military equipment aircraft now can to where it's needed most---without enemy detection by radar......or even plain sight!!
That's stuff you don't want our cold war enemies--or anyone else-- getting THEIR hands on--which is why ANYONE trespassing onto Area 51 grounds can be shot dead on sight.
The most brazen feature of Area 51, evidently enjoying it's "non-existence" is how they get away with breaking enviromental waste management laws, and out right pollute the area hosting the plant--often times at the expense and lives of it's workers.

Area 51 is the base of operations for the US Air Force Reverse Engineering program. It's where we take foreign vehicles to figure out how they work and apply it to our own military technology. We obviously don't have any UFOs, but if we did, that's were they'd be.
