It's not that bad first remove the air breather then tape and number the plug wires and unplug them from the spark plugs.Then remove the valve covers and unbolt the intake.Some light prying may be necessary to get the intake to lift be careful not to scratch or damage the gasket area.Clean the gasket area on the head and the intake your going to install really well.If it is a small block make sure you permatex the front and back areas well.I like to use gorilla snot around the water ports to ensure a positive seal.Gorilla snot is the yellow weatherstripping adhesive.Other than those areas mentioned no other gasket cement is required for the intake.Unfortunately I don't have my chiltons handy for the foot pounds of torque for the bolts but I believe it is twenty five.Start at the middle bolts and work your way out tightening them once you have them snugged repeat the procedure with the proper torque speck.Put on your valve covers and you have your plug wires marked so put them on and your new carb, hook up your linkage fuel lines and vacuum lines and plugs and you should be good to go.

Whoa! Amy rocks! Glad to see there's some ladies out there that know how to work on their own vehicles.
However,and nothing personal,Amy, but if you are referring to the magnum dodge with the high rise manifold. you don't have to take valve covers off. The intake will come out with out their removal. And while you're at it, you should check for a leaking or blown intake manifold cover gasket.Heck, I would replace it any way while I had the chance. They are notorious at sucking air and causing oil burning. And please use RTV on the manifold end gaskets. It works better than the monkey snot any day.( Sorry Amy.)But do like Amy says on the torquing of the bolts. Start at the center and work your way cris crossing to each end starting with 25 inch pounds, that's INCH lbs. and add a little at a time until you get 12 foot lbs. then STOP.

amy,s pretty much right on her answer,one thing though you didn't give us an exact engine size on what your working on,there's different procedures for different models,and different engines,always start from the middle on re-tightening those back up and go from the middle to a corner ,or cris cross them,you need a manual on this one to get it right ,without it all your doing is guessing at it,good luck with it.
