I'm sure with your hand up her shirt you had the purest of intentions! I can't for the life of me imagine what kind of pure intentions would cause you to do something that is usually associated with fleshly lust, but I would hate to accuse you of anything.
For the record however, "adultery" is when a married person has sexual relations with someone other than the person to whom they are married. This can include intercourse, but it is not limited to that.
Jesus said, "But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart." In this case, adultery can take place in the heart, even before there is physical contact.
Adultery is wrong. If neither of you are married, then you technically can not commit adultery, but you can commit fornication. Fornication is any sexual conduct between people who are not married to each other. Fornication is also wrong. Really all adultery is fornication, because it involves relations with someone who is not yours by marriage.
Yes, touching someone who you are not married to, that arouses sexual or lustful feelings is wrong. The Bible teaches that there are parts of the body that are private. (1 Corinthians 12:23)
If, however, you have to ask the question you have asked, then probably deep down you already know the answer. If you doubt if it is right, then it probably is not!
When some early Christians were unsure of their actions, Paul said, "But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin." (Romans 14:23)
If you want your girlfriend to love you, act in a way so that she can respect you! When you make her feel bad about herself and she looses respect, then she looses a degree of love and honor for you!
The greatest love comes when two people help each other to be better people and they respect and look up to each other. This respect includes, but is not limited to, a respect for each other's bodies and modesty!

Adultery is voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and one who is not his or her spouse. Although "adultery" differs in definition, the common theme is sexual relations outside of marriage, in one form or another.

Adultery is sex with someone other than your SPOUSE. You have to be married in order for it to be adultery. Your girlfriend is thinking Fornication, which is sex before marriage. (I'm going strictly by the Bible here as it seems your girlfriend is relying on the Christian sense of the word). But according to the Bible, even THINKING about sex with someone other than your spouse is adultery. Again, what your girlfriend is referring to is FORNICATION, which is different.... Tell her to read her Bible before trying to put you in your place.

Having any sort of sexual conduct with a person that you are not married to, that is not your spouse.
It is detestable to us, and God hates this. Don't do it.
