I won't be buying an AV Receiver for 6-8 Months or so, but I like the Denon brand. I was previously looking at the 4308CI, but with all the added features to the 5308CI, including the HQV Processing, maybe it's worth spending some extra money? Or is there a different brand that beats Denon 5308CI? And if so, how does it beat it, or how does it come close?

I would suggest an Onkyo SR-TX805 or 905. Or Integra brand - higher quality Onkyo line. Integra DTC-9.8 processor is a great deal under $2000, and there is a choice of multi-channel amps in the $2000 range - Onkyo, Rotel, Anthem.

Onkyo has HDMI 1.3a

Hi.Aaron. What is your priority in an Audio Video Receiver ? .As many features as possible or better sound quality ?The greatest compromise in a Receiver is the use of a single power supply for all three sections [ Pre-Amp/Processor,Tuner and Power Amps] The needs of the Power Amps section affect the Preamp section (not good)

Have you listened to the Denon Receiver you have in mind or are you going by the brand name?

Do you really want to spend over $5,000 for a Receiver.?
For that amount of money you could buy separate components that will out do any Receiver in sound quality. But if you are after all the latest "bells and whistles"then i guess the Receiver will do.

Here is a separate Preamplifier /Processor and 7 Channel Discrete Power Amplifier combination that will give you an awesome Video and Sound System not possible with any single Receiver available, if you are interested.(NAD is designed in Britain)
