I have used the EOS 5D and I found that the largest jpg setting is more then adequate. If you have a card reader on your computer they should be easy enough to locate. Open that drive and your photo editing program should locate them.

Your images are saved as Canon RAW files with the extension .cr2

You should be able to see the files names in Windows Explorer although maybe not thumbnails unless you have the correct update for your computer.

Canon software that came with your camera should open and edit these files.

Google Picasa is also very good at working with RAW files.

PhotoShop CS2 and later with an updated Camera RAW program should also be able to open these files.
