Since the goal of Mormonism to to become a god, and since Joseph Smith was the 'best' Mormon, does that mean that he is now a god, according to your beliefs?

"Hail to the Prophet, ascended to Heaven"

"Great is his glory and endless his priesthood"

"Faithful and true, he will enter his kingdom,
Crowned in the midst of the prophets of old."

According to Brigham Young, Joseph Smith will be one of the people that will have to judge us (along with Adam) in order for us to enter the Celestial Kingdom. Adam is described as being a god, so I would think that according to LDS theology, Joseph is now a god. If he isn't, however, he will be soon, at least before Jesus comes back in 1891 as he prophesied.

I doubt he is as of yet, but there is no doubt in my mind he will be one day...it could be a long ways away because we don't really know how long it actually takes to reach godhood.
I believe what President Taylor said of him - that Joseph Smith did more for the salvation of mankind, save Jesus Christ only, than any other man who ever lived on this earth.

Hail to the Prophet, ascended to Heaven.
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with gods he can plan for his brethren,
Death cannot conquer the Hero again.

In a revelation given to Joseph F. Smith, found in Doctrine & Covenants Sec. 138, Joseph Smith was still in the spirit world teaching other spirits the gospel. I don't know if he's been resurrected since then, but I don't think he has.

After the Resurrection, if he is found worthy by God, it is possible. God is the only one that really knows.

No, he wouldn't be, because something like that wouldn't happen until after the final resurrection and the final judgment.
