GREED is the the love of money:

Greed
An excessive desire to acquire or possess more than what one needs or deserves, especially with respect to material wealth.

If you do bad things to get things in life then it is EVIL!
Even stilling a rose off of another persons rose bush, just because, you want it is EVIL!

Power, child abuse, mental illness, poverty, natural disasters, stupid parents, etc, etc, are the root of evil and greed. They were there already long before money.
An important one is power. It's in fact an evolutionary tool, built in all living organisms, to survive. Don't get me wrong, I'm not proclaiming this is the best way to live for us humans (after all, we have ratio, though many don't really rely on that and still do what ancient books tell them to do), but it's just the way it is. All of these deepest evolutionary drives are still inside us. Not only between family, friends, bosses, politics, but also in religion. After all, religion is the old days politics, but then without possibility to choose the leaders and the laws. But just like the longing for a higher being is in some kind evolved into people as it must have had an evolutionary advantage (to get the peoples noses in one direction), there's also the hunger for not being in pain, taking care of yourself and the people you're dependent on for your own livelihood.

No, it's not money, but the power it represents and the power it gives the holder. He who has the most money wields the most power. Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. We all (well, most of us anyway) would like to be stronger, and money is a rather reliable indicator of power. If you don't have much money, you must be weak. If you do have a lot of money, you are either strong enough in some way to have earned it, or you just got lucky. Evil is selfishness (and extreme self-centeredness) at the expense of everyone else without remorse or concern.

The Scripture actually reads, "The LOVE of money is the root of all evil". 1 Timothy 6:10†

The love of money leads into greed.

We are commanded to "Love God with all our heart, all our mind, all our soul and all our strength" and "Have no other gods before Me", saith the Lord".

Jesus said, "From within, out of a man's heart, come evil thoughts; sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, arrogance (selfish-pride), and foolishness." Mark 7:20-22†

It's "the love of money", that is at the root, of ALL evil.

Money in and of itself is not evil, it is merely a tool to make provisions for ourselves and others.

Nope. Rather I believe the love of money is A root of all kinds of evil.

1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

No, let's make that clear. Not money, but the love of money is the root of all evil. There is a difference.

No..., there are many other sins besides greed and love of money. There's also lust and gluttony as well as many other things that can make people become evil

Personally no. Money is value neutral by itself. I could use money to build a church/mosque/synagogue or give it in charity. Money can be used for good and is used for good all the time. People who spent money to help the victims of Katrina were making good use of it. If I use money to buy food for a homeless guy, I am using the money for good.

Money is to be used in balance and it is good like anything else. Imbalance in any and everything is bad.

Thus if you seek power to help the poor, your seeking power is good. If you seek power to take the money from people, and become wealthy and powerful for personal gain, you are doing wrong.

I hope this makes sense to you.
