Special Operations Delta
SEALS
SF (green berets)
Rangers

those are the top four in no particular order.
each specializes in certain things
and most cross train with each other

I know that the ARMY has an excellent Combatives (hand to hand) course, though its mainly only the infantry that sends people to it.

As far as the Marines go...I wouldn't say that they get any better hand to hand training than the army infantry gets.

now if you are just talking about the average soldier...than I would say that marines on the whole get better initial training than the average joe in the army (non infantry)

Bo makes some very good points. If you insist on staying in the medical field, go in as a Dust Off helicopter pilot. Be aware that not only do drill instructors train you into shape, another big issue is the mind games they play. Keep that in the back of your mind and you will do fine. Navy "combat medics" usually are inserted into a platoon of Marines, they don't have medics of their own.

The special forces of all branches have the best training.

A lot of the training mentioned earlier as being for "special" units are just basic Marine training. As far as the army combatives program... its pathetic. Its pretty worthless unless your opponent just stands there and lets you do it.

It sounds like you are looking for TMNT not the US Military.

If you are in a situation that puts you in close proximity with an enemy so that you have to touch him... something has gone terribly wrong with your battle plan.

One on one....what are you thinking?

g-day!

i would say marines and army are about the same for hand to hand combat, marines might have a little upper hand. but should be about the same training in that field.

seals have many advanced courses. They had stick fighting for combat, knife fighting for combat, hand to hand and close quarters.
I belive as mentioned earlier, any of the elite units.
AND< SEALS arent hard to get into, just hard to finish

No question, Navy SEALs get the best training. Second best would be the Marine Corps Hand-to-Hand courses.
