If one's place of origin has any effect on height, it is because the place is settled largely by those of a common genetic make-up. The location has nothing to do with it. The only contributing factors to height are nutrition and genetics.

It is because different parts of the country eat differently.
Som places drink lots of milk. Others have little fruit, but lost of vegtables. Some places eat lots of meat. It is said that there are growth hormones in some meat and that is making kids larger and taller.

Also it does depend where your ansestors came from before the States. For instance. I am Swedish. The winters were cold and harsh. There was little food to share during the summer. Thus the bodies - when well fed tended to hang on to extra calories in preparation of the cold winter months with littlefood. Now those of us who are northern european gain weight easire becaue of the fammion theory. Worst thing that can happen is when that person has a starvation diet to lose weight. --the body doesn't konw anything about dieting.........so the metabloizm slows down and clings to every fat and nutrition than it can

Thus never diet so severlly- or you might gain weight Insteat you need a different life style of eating. vegtables, fruit, And smaller amounts of meat. Yes we need healthy fat in our system. Prepare your meal on a smaller plate that looks full.
We are in the extreems here of dieting dangerously or starving self to death. Not good.

A persons height is determined from both genetics and their childhood diet. It does make sense that shorter, compact people fair better in colder climates due to the fact that their body heat is lost at a slower rate than taller people.
Weight on the other hand can fluctuate from region to region. Colder climates on average have heavier people but weight is also determined by both genetics and life style.

Mainly parents genes. Only other thing that matters is excessive protein intake which is a world-type thing (like Japanese & [urban] Chinese current generations taller than ever.)

I think it depends more on nationality. For instance you'd be a midget if you were Samoan or you'd be a giant if you were from japan.
