I want to test the consciousness of plants. I am looking to buy four plants...two I will pet, kiss and water...and two I will just water regularly.

I need a plant that is less resilient...with a short life span...so I'm not waiting years to get my results. I live in New York.

Wait...come back!

Tell me more about the beans and soil.
How do I do this?

To make your study objective, I would use 4 of the same seeds...using potting soil, and kept in a wet & warm place, with adequate natural light...

I prefer avocado, sunflower and nasturium seeds, but almost anything will work...

Hint: I've tried this already, and the plants which get the most warmth & adequate water will thrive. Human emotions are negligible in regard to the plant kingdom. However, if you sit there and breath on them excessively, this will make a difference to both you and the plants, as they require carbon dioxide for photosynthesis, which we exhale, and we require oxygen for our life, which they exhale...

I did an experiment on different soils one time with beans and bean sprouts. They pop up pretty quick and you could use 4 identical beans. This is not a good time for short lived plants. I'm assuming you are using house plants. It won't make much difference as long as they are equal starting out. If you do use beans, watch out for the giant! peace

I'd like to see someone pet or kiss a Venus fly trap! That would be one short study! But seriously it seems the plant of choice in high school is always a potato plant, why, I don't know.

Beans or peas would work.
