"The mono virus is found in saliva and mucus. It is usually passed from one person to another through kissing, although it may rarely be passed in other ways, such as coughing."

"Signs of mono usually develop 4 to 6 weeks after you're exposed to the virus."

"Signs of mono include fever, sore throat, headaches, white patches on the back of your throat, swollen glands in your neck, feeling tired and not feeling hungry."

"Mono will go away on its own. Symptoms usually last about 4 weeks."

Mononucleosis - or "mono" - is an infection that produces flu-like symptoms, and usually goes away on its own in a few weeks with the help of plenty of fluids and rest.

Mono is usually caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), a very common virus that most kids are exposed to at some point while growing up. Infants and young kids infected with EBV usually have very mild symptoms or none at all. But teens and young adults who become infected often develop mono.

Mono is spread through kissing, coughing, sneezing, or any contact with the saliva of someone who has been infected with the virus. (That's how mono got nicknamed "the kissing disease.") It can also be spread through other types of direct contact, like sharing a straw or an eating utensil.

Symptoms of Mononucleosis
Symptoms of mono can often be mistaken for the flu or strep throat. It's a good idea to call your child's doctor if your child has a fever, a sore throat, swollen lymph nodes (in the neck, underarms, and groin), and unexplained constant fatigue or weakness
Symptoms of Mononucleosis
Symptoms of mono can often be mistaken for the flu or strep throat. It's a good idea to call your child's doctor if your child has a fever, a sore throat, swollen lymph nodes (in the neck, underarms, and groin), and unexplained constant fatigue or weakness.

Other symptoms of mono can include:

headaches
sore muscles
larger-than-normal liver and spleen
skin rash
abdominal pain
Kids with mono may have different combinations of these symptoms, and some teens may have symptoms so mild that they are hardly noticeable. Your child's doctor will likely take a blood test to make a firm diagnosis.

Mono symptoms usually go away on their own within 2 to 4 weeks, but the enlarged lymph nodes and spleen can last longer. And in some kids, especially teens, the fatigue and weakness can last for months.

Its called mononucleosis. It's a common illness. Anybody can get it. Mono can make you feel fatigue for weeks as well as causing you to have a mild fever, loss of appetite and other symptoms. Mono is passed through saliva, which is why it is known as the “kissing disease” but kissing is not the only way to contract it. It goes away by plenty of rest. You can only get it once. When I had mono I got hepatitis. Which the hepatitis I got didnt have a label suchas hepatitis A, B, C. The hepatitis went away, nothing you'll have for your whole entire life and nobody can get it. Hepatitis in inflammation of the liver. mono-related hepatitis is generally mild and only in rare cases does serious liver damage occur. 90% of people who get mono get hepatitis from it.

Mononucleaosis (sp). The kissing disease..not the most risky..you'd probably contract herpes before mono.

Too many white blood cells than red ones. Typical healthy person has one white blood cell to 500 red ones. -- the white fight the bacteria in your body..the white knight. Too many in your body means you have mono..and there is no simple fast pill cure for it.

Which can keep you sick..out of school for more than a month.

Once its gone..you are over it..but it can be contracted again.

mono is a disease that you can get from saliva to saliva contact... it can be newhere from kissing to sharing a drink with a friend.. Its just where ur body gets reli tired.. and you cant do much, because spleen enlarges a little... There isnt a cure, it goes away by itself..Dont worry about it.

It's the so-called "kissing disease", mononucleosis, and it is highly contagious, makes you violently ill and is transmitted most often by contact with saliva. (I may have misspelled it).
