1. Yes somewhat. With wine, there are limited windows programs that you can run on Linux.
2. Yes

What you are asking about is a 'dual boot' system. I am currently on a dual boot Linux/XP system. It is EXTREMELY easy to do. There are plenty of other sites to help you and guide you so I will not explain how to do it here. Trust me it is very easy and so worth it.

1. There is an open source emulator for Linux, which you can run Windows applications, it is not 100%, it has bugs, however, it will let you open up Office and some common Windows Programs.

2. You can not install Windows on a MAC, Linux distributions I am familiar with don't run on MAC, but there are so many open source versions of Linux that there may be one for MAC, look around.

You can install VMWare in Linux, which will let you boot Windows from within Linux as an "application". WMWare is a virtual machine. Performance is not as good as a bare machine but it is a cool toy to play with.
